protecting and not caring
This week: I am working on some quilt crop pants. The quilt I'm working with is detailed so beautifully-it's pictured to the left. It felt sooo good to start this design project. I've been craving something... me, and these are DOING IT! I tried a new pocket style. Usually I go with oversize and square or sometimes adding a diamond type shape to the bottom of the pocket. but as I was creating I was on the phone with my brother and he said "what about doing something like a jean pocket?" GENIUS, so that's what I've done and I played with some different ideas for how to create the waist; I usually do a cinch waist, no elastic and more versatile in it's sizing. I haven't done the waist yet so you'll just have to see what I end up doing for that ;) Tailoring this past week I have been getting much faster at suit coats and suit pants- I can shorten a vented sleeve in 45 minutes or less, which is on par! I also learned how to grid out the buttons for kissing buttons on a sleeve because the button sewer has been down so I'm not using the button marker tool. The measurements are 1.5 inches up from the bottom of the sleeve, .5 inch in from the side of the vent and if you want your buttons kissing just under .5 inch, and if you don't want them kissing just over .5 inch. This is for standard suit buttons a good old medium sized button- which I'll measure next time I'm in- I assume they're .5 inch. I've learned a lot and am getting into the groove with creating at home and really becoming efficient and confident with my sewing at work. Until next time- love and light with us all <3
